About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer / COBOL Consultant to evaluate existing systems, analyze user needs, and implement information system changes. This is an onsite role in Trenton, NJ supporting critical State of NJ projects.

What You’ll Do
Develop, modify, test, and maintain COBOL and NATURAL programs with JCL jobs
Analyze legacy systems and provide code walkthroughs, logic analysis, and documentation
Perform maintenance and enhancements to batch and online applications
Troubleshoot production issues, job failures, and system abends
Analyze ADABAS database structures to support system integration
Develop and maintain data feeds, file layouts, and interface processes
Participate in system design reviews, code reviews, and technical planning sessions
Produce technical documentation and support system testing

Required Skills:
COBOL and NATURAL programming experience in mainframe environments
Expertise in JCL development and job scheduling
Knowledge of ADABAS database architecture and file structures
Troubleshooting and debugging for batch and online applications
Experience with system integration and data interfaces
Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred:
Experience with CICS and government IT systems
Data migration or modernization of legacy applications
