Tripadvisor names the best destinations in the world for 2025, and a UK city has taken the crown from Dubai:

London has been designated as the most sought-after destination globally for 2025, according to the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for destinations, with New York leading the rankings in the United States.The award winners were determined based on the volume and quality of Tripadvisor reviews from around the world, covering various subcategories such as accommodations and dining, collected between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024.

The capital of the United Kingdom ascended two positions to secure the title of the world's top destination, succeeding Dubai, which had maintained the first position since 2022.Tripadvisor also highlighted London’s vibrant culinary landscape and its rich cultural and heritage offerings, ranking it second globally in the 'best food destinations' category and third in 'best culture destinations'.

One Tripadvisor reviewer referred to London as 'the greatest city on the planet', while another remarked that it is 'a destination that you can return to repeatedly and still find joy in its offerings'. In response to the announcement, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, stated: 'London is undoubtedly the best city in the world to visit, drawing millions of tourists each year who are captivated by the myriad attractions our remarkable city provides. 'With our unparalleled array of cultural sites, a celebrated food scene, and an unmatched sporting calendar, I am thrilled that Tripadvisor recognizes London as the premier destination worldwide.'

Kristen Dalton, President of Tripadvisor, remarked: 'It is wonderful to see London acknowledged as a leading winner for 2025.'
