Last year, millions of Americans moved to different states, with certain areas experiencing significantly higher rates of out-migration than others. The primary factors driving these relocations included job scarcity, elevated living expenses, taxation, and severe weather conditions. Arkansas unexpectedly emerged as the state with the highest influx of new residents in 2024. Following Arkansas were Rhode Island, North Carolina, Washington D.C., and Idaho.

New data from Atlas Van Lines has also shed light on the five states that experienced the most outbound relocations last year.
