Sir Christopher Nolans upcoming film has been officially announced as The Odyssey

Sir Christopher Nolan's upcoming film has been officially announced as The Odyssey:

The acclaimed director, aged 54, has been rumored to be developing a secret project featuring a star-studded cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong'o, slated for release in 2026. Universal Pictures has now confirmed that Nolan is adapting Homer's timeless epic, which chronicles Odysseus' perilous journey home following the Trojan War.

In a statement, the studio remarked: "Christopher Nolan's next film, Odyssey, is a mythic action epic filmed around the globe utilizing cutting-edge IMAX film technology. This adaptation brings Homer's foundational narrative to IMAX screens for the first time and is set to premiere in theaters on July 17, 2026." The poem has seen numerous adaptations over the years, including the notable 1954 film Ulysses, featuring Kirk Douglas, and it also inspired the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Anne Hathaway recently expressed her excitement about collaborating with Nolan again, having previously appeared in his films The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Interstellar (2014). She shared with Women's Wear Daily, "I have so many feelings about it that I don't even know how to articulate. It fills me with so much joy… I love Chris and Emma Nolan so much, and being invited into their world is one of the best places you can find yourself. Being invited twice felt significant; three times would have felt greedy, so I never let myself hope for that, and now that it has happened, it makes me emotional, to be perfectly honest. It makes me feel like I'm doing something right."

Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Nolan, describing the call he received about the project as "the phone call of a lifetime."
