Elon Musk is interested in acquiring Liverpool FC, as disclosed by his father's revelations regarding Musk's grandmother
Elon Musk's father has revealed that the billionaire entrepreneur has shown interest in acquiring the Premier League club Liverpool during a revealing interview. Musk, whose net worth is estimated at $418 billion, has recently aligned himself with Donald Trump, reportedly contributing approximately $270 million to the Republican Party ahead of their electoral success, which facilitated Trump's return to the presidency. The two have been seen together at various events since Trump's victory in November, including celebrations at Trump's Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida, as well as attending UFC matches and college football games.
With ventures such as Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), the 53-year-old appears to be seeking to broaden his business portfolio by investing in one of the most prestigious football clubs globally. When a reporter inquired whether Musk had indicated a desire to purchase Liverpool Football Club, Errol Musk responded on Times Radio in London, saying, "I can't comment on that. They'll raise the price," while chuckling.
In recent months, Musk has positioned himself as one of Donald Trump's most prominent supporters. When questioned again, Musk acknowledged that his son has expressed interest in acquiring Liverpool, yet he remained vague about the situation and declined to confirm any specific negotiations. "Indeed. However, that does not imply he is purchasing it," he stated. "He would certainly like to, as would anyone – myself included!" When inquired about Musk's particular interest in Liverpool, his father disclosed that their family has longstanding connections to the city of Merseyside. "His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives there. We were fortunate to have known many of the Beatles, as they were acquainted with some of my family. Thus, we have a bond with Liverpool," he explained to Times Radio.
Musk has previously characterized his grandmother, who was born in 1923 and passed away in 2011 at the age of 87, as "a significant influence" during his childhood, which included visits to Merseyside as a young boy on holiday. "My Nana was one of the impoverished working-class girls who lacked protection and could have been at risk of abduction in contemporary Britain," he remarked on X. "She was very strict yet also compassionate, and I could always rely on her. She endured a very difficult upbringing in England during the Great Depression, only to face bombings in World War II," he added. "To provide for our meals, she took on house cleaning jobs, instilling in me a lasting respect for those who perform such work."
