Conor McGregor Announces Boxing Match with Logan Paul in India
Conor McGregor has shocked fans by confirming plans to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. The UFC icon took to social media early on Tuesday morning to deny rumors about a fight with Georgian Spanish fighter Ilia Topuria, before revealing his latest venture into the boxing ring.
"I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambruni family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India," McGregor wrote on X, adding that he had agreed to the fight. The 36-year-old further teased his long-awaited return to the UFC Octagon, which has been the subject of much speculation since his last fight in 2021.
McGregor, who has not fought in the UFC since his back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021, expressed his excitement about returning to the sport after his exhibition match with Paul. His UFC return has long been anticipated, and he remains one of the biggest pay-per-view draws in mixed martial arts. In the meantime, McGregor has been linked to potential matchups, including a highly anticipated bout with former lightweight contender Michael Chandler.
While McGregor’s boxing comeback may come as a surprise to many, it isn't his first foray into the sport. The Irishman previously faced Floyd Mayweather in a professional boxing match in 2017 and took part in an exhibition with Michael McGrane in Dublin two years ago. His upcoming fight with Paul marks a new chapter in McGregor’s boxing career.
Paul, known for his YouTube career, has also dabbled in boxing, with two professional fights under his belt. He defeated Dillon Danis in 2023 and lost to fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI in 2019. Paul has also faced Mayweather in a non-scored exhibition match in 2021, further adding to his growing boxing resume.
In the midst of his boxing news, McGregor is also dealing with ongoing legal issues. He was recently found liable for assault and ordered to pay €250,000 in damages following a 2018 incident in Dublin. McGregor has denied the claims, stating that everything that happened that night was consensual, and has vowed to appeal the decision. He remains determined to clear his name, stating on X that he will pursue all defamatory writings about him.
McGregor’s boxing match with Logan Paul is set to add another chapter to his storied career, while his UFC return continues to loom on the horizon. Fans can look forward to what promises to be an eventful year for the former two-weight UFC champion.
